Mariana Pinho Biography

Mariana Pinho Dance Teacher/Coreographer, Costume Designer and producer of cultural interchange programs between Brazil and the UK, has performed in UK, Greece , Algiers, Germany , Scotland and Brazil. Choreographer for Young Vic 2008 production FESTA!, Thames Festival for Cardboard Citizens, Womad Festival with Monobloco.
Dance trained by Mabel (Bale Popular do Recife ), Vania Reis (Fundacao - Salvador ) , Joaquim Lino (Olodum) Anderson & Ney (Maracatu Nacao Pernambuco).
She returns to Brazil at least once a year to keep current on the latest dance steps and music, also dedicated to preserving and carrying on the traditional old-style rhythms such as Maracatu and Coco from Pernambuco, Samba reggae and ijexa from Bahia and Samba from Rio de Janeiro, rhythm which is part her life since early age.
These dances are rich, lively, friendly and the music is always intense! For this year's Womad the sessions will turn the dance tent into a real Carnival Party! Get the samba moves and grooves from Rio de Janeiro!
