Whether you are a soloist or band, signed or unsigned we welcome you to participate in the WOMAD Open Call to Bands where the prize is a slot on the Charlie Gillett stage at WOMAD Charlton Park 2011, with the possibility of up to 30,000 people watching you perform!
If you are not musically minded we need you just as much. Phase two of the competition really wouldn't work without you.
Soloists and bands (signed and unsigned), please embed your best music videos onto the WOMAD Charlton Park Festival (Official) page. You will need to have a Facebook account to do this. Don't forget to read the Terms & Conditions before you start.
The voting phase. Open to everyone. Please vote for the musicians that you want to see playing on the Charlie Gillett stage. Remember it is entirely down to your vote so make sure you have your say.
On Friday 24th June 2011 WOMAD announces the competition winner.
We wish you all the very best of luck,
the WOMAD team.
This group was started by a disillusioned musician, tired with the rigidities of classical music and the limitations of rock.
Justin Adams and Juldeh Camara present their new band 'JuJu', featuring Billy Fuller (Beak, Massive Attack, Robert Plant) on bass and Dave Smith (Outhouse, Ruhabi, Loop Collective) on drums.
Expect Hypnotic, psychedelic trance grooves from Robert Plant/Tinariwen collaborator, Justin Adams, and West African Griot Master Musician, Juldeh Camara. Plus Soul Science Sound System.
It all started in outer space…
Waterless products were perfect for astronauts to wash without water. And although a festival is not quite outer space (you'll be sure to see some fancy dress aliens) they are a great place to take waterless personal cleaning products to. These alcohol free goodies are not only far better for the environment than washing with water but they save queuing and leave you sparkling. You may have already used the Waterless hand soap in the WOMAD 2010 lavs.
Win a Waterless festival survival pack by answering this question:
On the Waterless/No Rinse website, www.norinse.co.uk, what colour is the hairbrush used in the norinse demonstration video?
Send your answers through to firstname.lastname@example.org along with your name address and contact number. Closing date 10 June 2011. 10 lucky winners will be contacted after this date.
