Tag Friday. Every Friday in the lead up to WOMAD UK we will be putting a photo onto the WOMAD facebook taken by our wonderful official WOMAD photographers at WOMAD UK 2011.
Can you see yourself? Well, tag yourself. Can you see your mate? Ah tag them too. And if you can't see your face but know for sure that you were there, then go tag crazy...
To see the first of many -subject Air Guitar *twang*- head this way...
WOMAD have been made aware of a small number of criticism and negative views about the festival sponsors in Taranaki, New Zealand. We value feedback about all aspects of our events and believe that freedom of speech is important. We do and will continue to monitor these comments and respond where necessary.
Currently the WOMAD management team are in New Zealand for the festival and are discussing the issues raised with our local partners. All of the sponsors are major employers in the area of the festival and the wider region and we believe that the sponsorship that takes place is part of a wider scheme aimed at supporting the local community and enabling a rich diversity of cultural and leisure activities to take place in the region. Without sponsorship, many of these activities would not take place. Because of this strong local connection we think it is important to consult with local people on both the positive and negative impacts of sponsorship and we are currently doing this through local media and direct contact with festival goers.
WOMAD and its local production partner will use all of the comments made and consultation results to inform the decision around sponsorship of future festivals and events.
WOMAD. Its all about sharing. Whether it be the music or the food. We all like sharing our new experiences, so why not share the car journey there too?
Advantages to sharing your car journey.
1. You make new friends. (Yippee)
2. You get to share snacks, gossip and play games.
3. The cost of the journey is soooo much cheaper which gives you more spending money for food and beer and trinkets.
4. Think about how green you're being by only taking 1 car instead of two or three or four. Yes, you are saving the planet, a little bit at a time.
