WOMAD Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

Musicians are tuning their instruments, traders arranging their merchandise and the WOMAD team are preparing for WOMAD Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, taking place at the end of this week. The festival will run from Thursday, 6 November through to Sunday, 9 November 2008.

Situated in and around Parque de Santa Catalina in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, surrounded by warm seas and sandy beaches, with an average temperature of 20 degrees, WOMAD Las Palmas is a unique and relaxing event for all ages- and it is free!

With performances on the Santa Catalena, the Boulevard and the Guagua stages, plus workshops for those of you who want to delve deeper into the music and the stories behind the music, there is something for everyone. Participatory workshops for children throughout the weekend leading to a final celebratory procession on Sunday, a programme of films and discussion are also on offer... and to top it all we have artists cooking up a storm at Taste The World, introducing you to some of their favourite recipes.

Leave those grey November skies and come and join in the festival vibe in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
