Does anyone have experience of this year's Park and Camp area? Did the area have its own toilets and was it as long a way to the main arena as it looked on the map? Am seriously considering paying the extra next year as it would be so much easier to have the car close by.

Yes we booked it and parked there but ended up camping next door in the main camping as we had family with us and the zoning meant there was no room for all our tents! The space was marked out in squares, large ones, but we had 2 largish tents and a small one and they would not fit. The area does not have its own toilets, and is quite a long walk, say 15/20 mins, but that means it is also quiet, at least compared some of the comments on here. Very nice not to have to lug your stuff for miles, makes packing and unpacking much easier.

Thank you for replying.
It is not ideal that there were no toilets but I think I could put up with that for the bonus of a more peaceful and less tiring camping experience!
Until recently, I had only ever camped at Womad, but have just returned from a holiday on a 'normal' campsite where your car is parked right next to the tent and it makes such a difference!
That's my mind made up!
Park and camp it is next year.

We were just over the fence from park and camp at the end nearest the gate and there were loos there both this year and last so it depends whereabouts you are. And the area itself grew considerably this year too.

I didn't mean the loos were 15 mins away, I meant the Arena! Yes there were loos in the field but not dedicated ones just for P & C people. They were also used by other campers. I still think it worth paying and will be doing so next year too, I think.

The more I think about all those trips back and forth to the car, the more I feel the extra money is going to be well worth it!
But ssssssh, don't tell everyone how nice it is in P & C or they will all want to be there!

Years ago it was all 'park and camp'...you just drove onto site, got the tent out and put it up. Everybody else just piled in around you and I don't ever remember there being a serious incident. Life was good...you had your own personal lockup, food store and beer safe. Adults were even trusted to light candles. Then 'Progress' arrived and we were told that from now on all cars and tents must be separated due to 'elf and safety'. Now it seems that 'elf and safety' can be ignored provided that you're willing to fork out extra money for what we all used to do anyway.
Actually, 'elf and safety' aside I think that I do now prefer a lack of cars on the campsite even if it does mean traipsing back and forth to the car for things you've either forgotten or chosen to keep locked up. The place is just nicer to camp in...apart from all those ruddy unsightly dog kennels and wigwams

And these days if it was all P&C it'd have to be another 100 acres for camping. The majority of the P&C people seem to bring a tent city each!!

So how does it work? Are pitches marked out as they are on an organised campsite or is it a free for all?
For an extra £50, I want a bit of organisation!!
The trouble with the traipsing back and forth, Mickey2Bagz, is that the legs and back get older every year and anything that leaves me with a bit more energy and less aches and pains is a good thing!
It is either that or buy a campervan and I need to win the lottery for that.

Just re-read the earlier posts and can see that Nellymc had already said that the pitches were marked out.
I only have one car and one tent, so I should be OK to fit in a space.
