"WOMAD tickets go on sale this week
5:41pm Tuesday 27th October 2009
Tickets for next years WOMAD festival will be on sale at the end of this week.
From Friday, revellers will be able to get their hands on discounted Early Bird tickets for the 2010 festival and organisers are delighted that they have been able to keep the ticket prices at the same price for the third year running.
There are a limited number of discounted tickets on offer and can be purchased from www.womad.org or call the booking line on 0845 146 1735.
Tickets cost £125 for the weekend and the offer ends when the tickets are all snapped up, or on December 16."
Looking forward already and don't care who is performing - it will be brilliant!
When is VAT planned to revert to 17.5%?

VAT rate returns to 17.5% wef 1st January. So if you buy your tickets by 31st December, it will still be at 15%. That assumes Womad pass on the increase to their customers, rather than absorbing it themselves.
£125 appears to be the full price for a weekend ticket. From memory, I think last year's Early Bird ticket was £110. I also think those prices were at a VAT rate of 17.5% (it went down to 15% on 1st December).
Quick calculations, the VAT savings will be approx £2.40 on an Early Bird ticket and £2.70 on a full price ticket.
This will obviously depend on when the Early Bird tickets finish (I think last year it was 31st December). I know I bought our tickets before 30th November, so could have saved a few pounds had I waited until 1st December.
The best advice is to buy an Early Bird ticket before 1st January, saving on both the price and the VAT.

Thanks, PJV, and yes, your memory is indeed spot on re last year's Early Bird ticket price of £110, inclusive of 17.5% vat - I've just had a rootle and found them to check. I think the Early Bird tickets are set to end on December 16th, or beforehand, if they are snapped up before then.

Hmm...

Just found my ticket stubs from last year which were bought after the early bird deadline, £125 for the weekend and £25 for the Thursday ticket. So I guess the £125 quoted is the normal price, not the early bird price.
Can't wait!
Hopefully see you next July, Ms. Stone ;-)

To go or not to go that is the question!

Of course, Nigenet; our tents will no doubt see to that! Especially looking forward to Barwick Green which I believe will be performed at 10am on Sunday 25th at the blue kettle stage?
Of course you shall go, JayCee! (That is the answer!) What else have you got booked for that weekend which could possibly be better?!

You don't have to decide just yet JayCee!

But can I miss out on the huge early discount?

Nigenet, just heard Phil won't be able to join us at the performance of Barwick Green - sad news indeed :(
