Not liking the idea of screens at all .Nothing against the Olympics but fear that the screens will evolve to become big screens next to the stages and I'd hate that idea. Maybe a big tent somewhere on the campsite can house them for the sports fans .

yes we think they might be going down the big screens at side of the stage

WOMADIDAS? - not at all keen. An Olympic tent, ok. - screens beside other stages - please, no, no, no!!!!

Molly's bar for music; Olly's bar (with screens) for Olympics, both on the campsite (festival camping for Molly's bar, Olympic camping for Olly's bar) - everyone happy

Good idea SS. I do hope someone involved in planning is reading all our posts!!

From just looking at Afro Celts Capture CD they have already worked with Peter Gabriel, Robert Plant, Sinead O'Conner. Afro Celts have got to be at Womad 2012 with many many friends to help blow out the 30 candles
On the Olympics I don't follow sport particularly but aren't the Olympics all about bringing various cultures from around the world together and to celebrate great achievements and effort, mutual respect and stuff. Are they not very similar principles that Womad stands for? Much like and stage or tent as long as it doesn't drown out others then it,s gotta be ok. A few years ago I was at Glastonbury and they showed an England match in the World Cup from the main stage. It was awesome fun to watch it with 80,000 others in the field, no way did it spoil the rest of the festival.

Will WoMaD be on screens at the Olympics then? presumably equally appropriate......

.. can't find anything on t'internet about what NotsoGrumpyPrincess' Mum said the local papers reported..... where did it say what?

I'm pretty sure the Olympics will be covering Womad
yep I'm sure.
Just watched the Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra on you tube - could be a good party, hope they don't clash Peatbog Faeries.

I'll be boggin' at the ceilidh
