  Charlton Park are having tv's showing the Olympics. Oh well, I suppose I will be avoiding Molly's Bar then. Too much wonderful music going on to waste time watching sport.

  Well lets hope the tent is soundproof.
  I thinks its outragous what young people get up to these days. Diving into water, jumping over fences, throwing steel poles, hammers etc. All these young people in London at once, look what happened last year! I hear they are to gather at what will be the finest stadium for live music in the country. Fancy Womad encouraging such socially irresponsible behaviour.
  Although it may be that it is going to be 'the naughty tent' for those space hugging folks who lay claim with chairs at the Radio 3 tent and disappear until 5 mins before a set starts.

  Olly's bar is the one which has been suggested for the screening of the Olympics, so you can still enjoy the music at Molly's (which goes on 'till 4am)

  I think a separate soundproof booth where you cant see PD setting fire to the chairs. They'd have their own olympics rushing to put their hot bums out.

  rather than burn the chairs which would cause unnecessary pollution why don't you put a sign on the chair saying "Feel free to sit on me, I belong to no one and I'm here to help you enjoy WOMAD"

  ah..that negates my previous post here..... just checked e.mail and now see where Molly's bar comes into it all:

  "We just cannot stick our heads in the sand, WOMAD's 30th anniversary weekend will be falling on the weekend of the Olympic opening ceremony. But fear not, (if that has been keeping you awake at night) you can see both at once! And no it isn't sorcery - it is a big screen. Molly's Campsite bar will be host to the Olympics 2012. Dash between the London Olympic Games and the super duper festival performances to your hearts content. On the other hand, if you do want to stick your head into the Olympic free sand the WOMAD arena will be just that - completely Olympic free (except, perhaps for the odd race between children, tipsy adults and wildly excited ants)."

  Great to know the Arena will be Olympic free Sad that it willl be Biscuithead and the Biscuit Badgers free too though!

  Thats good, the opening ceremony will be a show stopper, but best seen as a spectator in London and as a second best on a big screen, so a great compromise as the arena remains games free (unless PG sings & does Games Without Frontiers)

  Still up for burning almost carbon neutral chairs, maybe in a stewarded brazier or a giant wood burner like the ones they have at Stonehenge at Summer solstice.
