WOMAD New Zealand 2013 15-17 March 2013
Brooklands & TSB Bowl, New Plymouth is gorgeous parkland at the heart of Taranaki, New Zealand- a lake mirroring its leafy surroundings, trees cascading green offer delicious shade and little nooks and crannies to explore. We are so lucky to say that this luscious scene is also home to WOMAD New Zealand and 2013 will be more beautiful and better than ever!
Don't forget the tent pegs!- Your Festival checklist
We've compiled a basic checklist of the things that you should bring with you to WOMAD.
WOMAD is not just about the excellent music. There are so many more exciting elements on offer:
Taste the World
Nine cooking sessions spread across the weekend see artists swap instruments and microphones for cooking utensils and unusual ingredients and the audience gets up close in an informal, lively environment.
Enjoy a selection of evening films under the stars. Films are usually about one-hour long.
More Info and 2013's film programme.
Artists in Conversation
The Artist in Conversation programme on the Pinetum Stage offers a unique opportunity to learn more about some of the artists at WOMAD as they share their history and musical journeys. The artists chat informally with their host about their lives, their music, and the inevitable effects that each has had on the other.
At the heart of the festival, the Global Village is home to more than 80 stalls trading quality art and craft, and food from around the globe. This is your chance to eat, drink and shop your way around the world!
Discover yourself! Take part in a workshop with some of the weekend's performers, explore your vocal range, dance to a different beat, or meet and be inspired by an artist.
Kidzone offers a full programme of fun and creative activities for children under 12-years. They can come and explore colour and sound as they create dynamic and interesting artworks. From little to large, come and see how artistic you can be!
When you are ready to drop out of the hustle and bustle of the festival, step through the Moon Gate and in to the beautiful Kunming Garden. You can enjoy refreshments in stylish chill out areas, watch a cooking demonstration or absorb the Gyuto Monk's Mandala tent.
Since 2003 WOMAD NZ has been committed to promoting the uniqueness of Aotearoa to an international audience, as a result of the desire Paepae was born and still remains as a strong point of identity for WOMAD NZ.
