WOMADelaide 2011 will be held from Friday 11 - Monday 14 March outdoors in Adelaide's beautiful Botanic Park.
Yes, the 4 days of WOMADelaide last year was such a great success that it will be back for another wonderful 4 days in 2011 and will be filled with everything you could want from WOMADelaide and more.
WOMADelaide began in 1992 and has gone on to become one of Australia's favourite festivals; the 2010 festival attracted 81,500 attendances over four days (not including children 12 and under, who are admitted free).
The programme features performances and workshops on seven stages by the world's best musicians, dancers and DJs, alongside street theatre artists and visual artists, the popular Taste the World cooking program, Artists in Conversations sessions and an All-Star Gala finale, plus around 100 food, crafts and display stalls and a KidZone.
Now a hazy and warm memory, here is a little reminder of 2010. Sigh.. Only a few months to go.
WOMADelaide 2010 saw an extra day added to the festivities to help celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Adelaide Festival of Arts. The 3 days and 4 nights turned out to be a roaring success with even more artists added to the bill than ever before.
A visit from the rain gods did not deter the record crowds but rather added to the ambiance and saw a lot of dancing accompanied by a lot of inventive wet weather gear. The rain, though, was short lived and before long the crowds were jumping madly to some of the amazing musical spectacles.
The popular Taste the World segment grew considerably from previous festivals to incorporate a larger tent and more demonstrations by artists from across the world and Australia. It was great to see everyone getting involved and tasting interesting concoctions not normally found in our kitchens.
Overall, the extended festival brought another day of excitement, discovery and fun for all involved and WOMADelaide was ecstatic to receive such glowing reviews and comments by the press, artists, staff and most importantly, the punters!
Now to look forward to WOMADelaide 2011 which is already looking like it will be pretty special indeed!! Stay tuned

“WOMADelaide truly is one of the most unique shows on the global music calendar and it's real privilege to have a line-up of such calibre assemble once each year for us to aurally devour.
