The Human Library is an innovative method designed to promote dialogue, reduce prejudices and encourage understanding. People from all walks of life, with a story to tell, act as books. Visitors to the Human Library are given the opportunity to speak informally with "people on loan".
Would you like to be a living book in the Human Library? If you have a story to tell, have lived through a special event or a part of a group often discriminated against then we would like to hear from you. The library also requires volunteers to act as 'librarians' - both positions will be in return for a free ticket to the festival.
For more information see human library.org or to volunteer as a Living Book or a Librarian visit www.surveymonkey.com/s/R7VCYZH
Riverford Organics presents Taste the World which unites artists, audiences and gastronomy in cooking demonstrations which cover the globe. Last year we saw Mariem Hassan, Kamel El Harrachi and many more introduce dishes from their homelands. Visit the timetable to see who we have in store for you this year on the Taste the World stage.
Encounter the world of a number of leading contemporary artists at WOMAD. The 'galleries' are six sea containers acting as viewing stations for a programme of artists' films. The films presented reflect the title Moving Portraits as a broad theme.
The films aim to bring the stories of lives from around the world, told through portraits of groups and individuals.
Moving Portraits can be found next to the WOMAD Spa near the arboretum and is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 2.00-10.00pm.
Words and Film Beyond The Music...
This new addition aims to present films, interviews, panels, poets, writers, comics and speakers who can explain, enhance and reveal the worlds and cultures behind the music, providing both insight and entertainment.
The Speakeasy is hosted by Andy Morgan and will be located at the Riverford Yurt, next to the Taste the World in the arboretum.
See the Speakeasy stage in the timetable for details.
WOMAD brings you the a world of culinary delights to feast upon inbetween acts in the Market Area. Here you will not only find delicacies from across the globe but market stalls to wonder amongst at your leisure.
Take a break from the excitement of the festival and escape into the World of Well-Being where you can relax with a massage or visit the cafe. The World of Wellbeing is located opposite the Taste the World stage.
This dedicated kids zone is bursting with things to see and do from participating in music workshops to painting your own tshirt and even kids cooking classes.
