Caravans, Campervans & other Live-In Vehicles You will need to purchase a Campervan Ticket if you plan to stay in a sleep-in vehicle or caravan.

  • A Campervan/Caravan Ticket gives access to space in the Campervan/Caravan field.
  • We recommend that you purchase a Campervan ticket if you are bringing a trailer tent. As cars are not allowed to enter the camping area, it will be difficult to separate your car and trailer. The car and trailer can stay together in the Campervan area.
  • All vehicles without a Campervan ticket will be parked in the car parking areas of the campsite, and you will not be allowed to camp in your vehicle.

Guidelines for the campervan field. If your vehicle does not adhere to these rules you will not be allowed access into the campervan/caravan field.

  • Your campervan/caravan must have purpose built fitted sleeping facilities and either fitted cooking or washing facilities.
  • Any converted vehicles must clearly be live-in vehicles. (Unfortunately, a van with a piece of foam cut to size for a bed and bucket for washing does not qualify.)
  • A team of campsite staff and security will be checking each vehicle's live in facilities.
  • Those in unsuitable vehicles, including unconverted vans, with tickets for the campervan fields will be denied entry and asked to park in the festival car parks. Security patrols will not permit sleeping in any vehicle in these car parks.
  • There is space for one car to be parked beside the caravan. Any other member of your party arriving by car will need to park in the festival car parks.
  • A trailer tent must be purpose built and manufacturer made.
  • All vehicles longer than 7 meters must purchase two campervan/caravan field tickets to cover the extra space required.
  • One small/medium tent can be pitched next to your campervan/caravan within your allocated space.
  • The pitching of tents with campervans is discouraged for safety reasons, however if your family group is too large to fit into your campervan or caravan, you may pitch one small tent immediately beside the vehicle.

The Campervan Ticket charge is to help to cover the costs of fire stewarding this separate area and ensuring that Health & Safety guidelines with regard to petrol containing vehicles are followed.

From Car Park to camping spot In common with all other major festivals and in order to comply with Health and Safety regulations, cars and tents will be separated. However, the campsite layout is designed specifically so that you should be able to park within a reasonable distance of your camping spot, but please bear in mind that the actual distance cannot be absolutely guaranteed.

Be considerate with space Please be considerate when pitching your tent. We receive many complaints about groups of campers who deliberately arrange their tents, gazebos and wind-breaks to take up the maximum possible amount of space for their own group. Please bear in mind that if people pitch inconsiderately then space for others is severely restricted.

Toilets There are plenty of toilets on site, all emptied and cleaned regularly over the weekend by a dedicated hygiene team.

Showers There will be a 48-head hot shower unit, which will be attended to regularly by a dedicated hygiene team. We are asking people to use eco-friendly products at the festival to protect the local wildlife and ecosystems.

Water There will be plenty of drinking water points on the campsite, each with a cluster of taps. We recommend that you bring supplies of bottled drinking water with you for convenience.

Power There are no power points available in the main camping areas or the Campervan field.

Fires Because of the risk of fires spreading out of control, OPEN FIRES ARE BANNED everywhere on site. Please familiarise yourself with Fire Exits and Fire Towers.

Noise. No sound systems or amplified music allowed on site. Those who disregard this regulation will have their equipment confiscated. Drumming: We know this is a WOMAD festival where drumming is part of the entertainment but please do not drum on the campsite between 8pm and 8am. We have more complaints from campers and local residents about drumming than any other issue. Please take this seriously, our licence depends on it. We reserve the right to ask persistent drummers to leave the festival site.

Crime Prevention Advice We recomend you follow the Police Safety advice at WOMAD 2009

Campers Lock-Up This is the place to leave any valuables that you don't want to leave in your tent or car or carry around. Please check with Lock-Up staff or at the Info Tent for opening times. Items can be left or collected between these times only. Mark items with your telephone number/postcode/house number if possible. There is a charge of £1 per item for this service.

  • Due to limited space, 4 person tents will be the largest allowed with no provisions for awnings/extension tents to motor homes, campers/vans or tents. If this does not meet your access requirements please contact us directly.

Bringing Campervans into Disabled Camping We understand that some people would be unable to attend the festival without the use of their caravan/campervan. So that we can accommodate those people who it is essential for, we do ask people to think quite carefully about their needs before applying for a space.

There is also a general public camper and caravan field.

Toilets & Showers There are disabled toilets within disabled camping are and at locations throughout the arena.

Adapted showers will be available within the disabled camping area.

General Assistance at the Festival At the disabled campsite the staff can advise you of specific arrangements on site, are in radio contact with other staff and will be your main point of contact at the festival.
