From Spain
Toni Senté (Málaga, 1967) is an Andalucían crooner with a great vocal range. He can be Sinatra one minute and singing a cappella the next.
Los Mares de China is his first solo album. It is a predominantly classical album although Zenet infuses Andalucían folk, Argentinean tango, Cuban song and New York Jazz making it an education for the senses and a oneway ticket to world music.
His lyrics are timeless, they could have been written in the 1920s, 40s or 60s. "When people listen to my music, they can't believe that they are original songs" says Zenet "but covers of old classics". This is a good sign, showing that Toni captures the true feeling of the style of music he is writing.
Zenet is not new in the music business. SUR S:A was his first flamenco band and he created two albums (A golpe de pellejo y Malaracha). Unfortunately, things did not work out and the band split. From this the Zenet project began, rising up from impromptu jamming sessions in the bars at the Plaza in Madrid to the fantastic music that we can hear today.
