From Tibet
Yungchen Lhamo escaped the oppression in her homeland, Tibet, and walked on a perilous journey over the Himalayas in 1989. This led to a pilgrimage to Dharamsala, the residence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Meeting and receiving the blessings of The Dalai Lama filled Yungchen Lhamo with the desire to reach out to others. Yungchen Lhamos voice is as atmospheric and clear as a temple bell. Her name means "Goddess of Song," a name bestowed upon her by a holy man, only days after her birth. Yungchen Lhamo is the first and only Tibetan singer to achieve her extraordinary level of international success, and has shown the world a new professional face for the cause of Tibet.
