Village of the Idiots is the Wellington based super nine-piece ensemble cobbled from various bands. This musical extravaganza created in 2002 by the legendary drummer and percussionist Anthony Donaldson (also of the 1980s band The Six Volts) draws together a huge cast of talent including Jo Lindsay (Fat Freddies Drop) on trombone, Lucien Johnson playing the organ and saxaphone, Alphabethead (winner of the 2002 NZ DJ Championship) on turntables, Amanda McLean on trombone, Dean Hunter (Flower Orphans) playing guitar, Chris Palmer (The Elephant Men, Luckyfoodbar) vocals and rhythm guitar , Patrick Bleakley on bass and Toby Laing (Fat Freddies Drop) keyboards and trumpet. They have astounded audiences with their brilliant musicianship ranging from a kitsch carnival circus sound through to darker progressive rock to smooth jazz dub and are set to do the same at WOMAD 2008!
