Capoeira fuses dancing and fighting into a stunning martial art. The Brazilian Polaco, from Rio de Janeiro, is a capoeirista of some 23 years standing and now both teaches and performs capoeira in the UK. He has worked with theatre groups, disabled people and primary and secondary schools. Polaco and his Union Capoeira Group run workshops tailored to meet the needs of people of any age or level of fitness, ability or background. The emphasis is on fun, with plenty of fascinating information about this old African martial art thrown in. The movements are accompanied by rhythm and song and all new comers will be taught the basic skills of the form.
