He brought these diverse musical traditions with his third musical love, the sampler and digital culture.Clotaire supremely mastered the alchemy of bringing it all together, effortlessly blending Um Kulthum and Grandmaster Flash, fusing Afro-American beats and Middle Eastern music and then addressing millions of young Lebanese people living throughout the world with his coruscating lyrics. After listening to his music, artists like Natacha Atlas, Asian Dub Foundation hounded him to support their tours as special guest band. Now the Shrine welcomes another hot rebel to its hallowed stage – Clotaire K, who raps, sings and plays oud, plus rappers, dancer, DJ, and a rocking rhythm section (bass player + drummer).Hear him tell it like it is, totally aware that a conscious use of a simple microphone can have a stronger impact than any conventional weapon.Unmissable –Come feel the heat!!!FONTOMFROMGhanaian Percussion Roadblock withNANA TSIBOE NANA APPIAH ASABRE QUAYEADESOSE WALLACE JOJO YATESThis band is a Rhythmic Tornado powered entirely by West African Master Drummers and Percussionists. It’s a musical form they’ve been developing for over four years and since 2000 they’ve been touring internationally as the Synchro System, working with artists who reflect the principal elements of Afrobeat: culturally conscious poetry, radical politics, West African rhythms and melodies colliding with jazz, blues and funk. Artists we have worked with include legendary drummer TONY ALLEN, the incredible WUNMI, Nigerian rapper WEIRD MC, ERROL LINTON on harmonica and OUMAR SOW (guitarist/writer from Youssou N’Dour and Cheikh Lo’s bands). Tony’s solo career since the late ’70’s has seen him play solo and with African Stars like Sunny Ade, Manu Dibango and Ray Lema.
