Biography August 2003:Patrick Duff began his musical career in 1989 when he formed the rock group Strangelove as principal singer and songwriter. Strangelove released three albums and ten singles, all of which entered the British charts, and successfully toured throughout Europe and appeared alongside headline groups such as Oasis, Radiohead, Manic Street Preachers and Suede. In recent years Patrick himself has collaborated with such contemporary music luminaries as Adrian Utley and Geoff Barrow of Portishead and Damon Reece and Mike Mooney of Spiritualised. Patrick is currently working in collaboration with writer and journalist Christina Zaber (a filmmaker and writer for Channel 4 and HTV) on a project based around an idea of identity in 13 to 18 year olds in different ethnic groups; Patrick has been specially commissioned to write the music for this project. Patrick Duff appears at Eden with his own band which includes renowned musicians such as Jim Barr on Double Bass, Tammy Payne singing and playing Drums, Adam Coombes on Piano and Pete Trill on Harmonica. Patrick and his band perform songs that are the synthesis of conflicting desires arranged into unique but somehow familiar music. Biography by Vicky Sparks, June 2001:Anyone who has seen Patrick Duff on one of his rare solo acoustic outings, will have experienced a wealth of beautiful melodies, entwined with heartfelt personal tales - a far cry from his days as frontman of Strangelove, an angst-rock ridden journey that spawned top forty singles and album success as well as notable peer recognition from the likes of Radiohead and Suede. Still seen as an important songwriting figure in his native Bristol, Patricks performance also brings him together with fellow Bristol music legend Jesse Morningstar, formerly of the Moonflowers.
