From United Kingdom

The Heritage Survival Band is a group of talented young musicians from Zimbabwe, who have relocated to Manchester. Formed in 2002, they play a fusion of African mbira or thumb-piano music and Afro-jazz, and have recently recorded a debut album entitled Pasi meaning ‘This World’. They have performed in a number of prestigious venues around UK including Ocean in London, The Manchester Academy supporting the famous Lagbaja from Nigeria, The ‘In The City’ Trade Fair in Manchester, and Luton Festival. Some of the musicians have worked with leading lights of Zimbabwean music like Dr Thomas Mapfumo, Andy Brown and Oliver Mtukudzi. They also lead dance, percussion, song and drumming workshops in schools, colleges and at festivals. Another UK-based African collective to treasure!
