What should you expect when a fluorescent green man, armed with an extensive array of green accessories, starts riding around Botanic Park on a green scooter? Hilarious encounters, at the very least, as the highly animated Green Man sets about making acquaintance with the WOMADelaide audience. Talented performance artist Adrain Schvarzstein, born in Buenos Aries but now resident in Barcelona, was a clown in the famous Ronaldo circus before venturing into the realm of solo street theatre. He studied commedia dell'arte with Antonio Fava in Italy, studied pantomime in France and lived for several years in Israel, where he studied theatre. From these rounded skills he has worked in diverse artistic endeavours, forming Circus Klezmer, directing young street theatre group The Kamchatka Company and working in opera and modern dance before creating the successful Green Man show, in which he befriends spectators and encourages them to help him perform some most unusual and amusing activities. Indeed, the Green Man's curious mind and vivid imagination produces plenty of surprising improvisations and hearty laughs.
