2001 BiographyThe name means "Voices of the Atlas," and the ten-piece band is fronted by the warm voices of singers Kamel and Mounir. Their sound integrates tribal rhythms, strands of traditional oriental music and a liberated funk - creating a distinctive mix which touches upon rai, funk, R&B, reggae and Latin notes. Their lyrics are positive and progressively minded. "Whether you're white, black, or Arab; remember there’s no difference, no preference, here, we dance . . ."Their performance at WOMAD USA is part of a debut tour for this Moroccan-French group.
