After 10 years on the international performance circuit with Fruit - the soaring female vocal band that played at WOMADelaide 1997, 1999 and 2001 - singer/songwriter Susie Keynes brings her new outfit Redhead to the stage. With the sparky redhead Keynes on vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, supported by CJ Rhodes on bass and former Fruit cohort Yanya Boston on drums, Redhead delivers a sonic punch that shifts between plaintive acoustic, roots beauty and a smattering of raucous girl-rock. Having made eight records with Fruit and sold more than 100,000 copies around the world as an independent act, Keynes says that particular journey is now resting - giving her the space to explore her songwriting through her solo voice. Teaming up with UK producer Paul Gomersall (Blur, Kate Bush, George Michael) Redhead recorded, then released its debut album in June 2008, followed two months later by a highly successful seven-week, 32-date summer festival tour of North America. This inaugural tour included appearances at the Milwaukee Summerfest, Winnipeg Folk Festival, California World Music Festival, Bethlehem Musikfest. and industry hotspots The Hotel Café in LA, and Arlene's Grocery in New York.
