RASPO stands for Reading All Steel Percussion Orchestra and is Readings most successful steel band for youths between the ages of 7 and 25. The band has three extraordinary young drummers who take lead roles in different songs. Nathaniel is 12 and plays treble guitar and bass pans. His sister Taneesha is 10 and plays drums, tenor and bass pans. Yasmine is 10 and plays drums, bass and tenor pans. RASPOs repertoire comprises old favourites like Peanut Vendor and Sugar Boom Boom contrasted by Bob Marleys Stir It Up or Maria Maria by Santana. This is community music at its best.
