We are very proud to be working this year with a group of visual artists from the Anangu Pitjantjatjara lands in Central Australia, whose work involves stunning silk screened and batik fabrics as well as paintings on canvas and lino-prints. The women of the Anangu Pitjantjatjara collaborated this year in WOMADelaide,with UK visual artist Angus Watt, whose silk flags have been a key feature of WOMAD festivals for many years now. Together they created a series of unique hand painted flags and traditional ‘wiltjas’ which provided shady areas for festival-goers to shelter from the sun. We are proud to be displaying this vibrant installation at WOMAD Singapore 2001. The women of the Anangu Pitjantjatjara will be hosting workshops, giving an insight into the skills that they use to create their art.
