Another chip off the old Cajun block

Sometimes your life is mapped out from the time you take your first breath. And so it pretty much was for Wilson Savoy, born into the venerable Savoy Cajun music dynasty 30 years ago. His destiny was always to pick up an accordion and squeeze it for the rest of his life. Having earned his stripes in the Savoy Family Band, Wilson now leads his own combo, the Pine Leaf Boys. Change is slow in the world of Cajun music (when the tunes are so good and played so impeccably, why change a thing?), but this fleet-footed five-piece are leading it into the new(ish) millennium. Not only have they appeared in the Louisiana-set HBO drama Tremé, they also approach live performance in that rock bands might, prompting the New York Times to praise their "unbiased rock'n'roll energy conducive to the elbows-flying, hip-swivelling spirit on the dancefloor".
