“I'm inspired by the queens of tragedy - Billie Holiday, Edith Piaf and Judy Garland. Then throw a bit of Nick Cave, Etta James and PJ Harvey into the mix, add all my influences from avant garde cinema and you start to come close. My visual style is fancy dress as I never grew out of dressing up boxes! My early performances were David Lynch meets William Blake at the circus. Welcome to my world...”
Paloma Faith

The inexorable rise of PALOMA FAITH was an unstoppable force in 2010. The Hackney born 25-year-old singer has been collecting critical acclaim everywhere she goes, and it's easy to see why. Her songs shimmer with soul, anchored by the hugely colourful stamp of her idiosyncratic persona; drawing on diverse influences from music, literature, art and cinema, Paloma Faith is an artist in the truest sense of the word, and one who resonates with a correspondingly broad audience.
You see it at Paloma's live shows… her audience become a part of her world, dressing up and singing every word to every song - enjoying each moment of Paloma's highly theatrical performance and wickedly hilarious personality. The stage is immaculately dressed, reflecting her highly tuned visual sensibility. She might emerge sporting a huge feather plume, a variation on the showgirl yes, but a showgirl who takes her influences from a vast knowledge of film and theatrical culture. An acute sense of dynamic and drama punctuate the show, enhancing songs that draw on musical influences as diverse as Billie Holiday, Etta James, P J Harvey and Edith Piaf. Yet this is no arcane performance - this is something that would envelope all audiences from a huge stadium crowd to a smoky back alley jazz club, so universal are the songs.
Like her music, Paloma's story never fails to thrill. In the lead up to her becoming a singer, she has been a magician's assistant, trained contemporary dancer, St. Martin's alumni with an MA in theatre direction, a performer in burlesque shows, and an actress, appearing in 'St Trinians' and the Terry Gilliam film "The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus".
A certified style icon and a musician of immense depth, Paloma Faith is not to be ignored… intelligent, eccentric and essential.
