Biography by Andy Morgan, July 2002:The Blues will never die! not if Little George Sueref has anything to do with it. Born in the UK of Greek parents Little George moved to London to seek out a career path in music. He was deeply inspired by the classic down-home roots blues of Jimmy Reed, Snooky Pryor, J.B. Hutto and Muddy Waters, as well as the more soulful sounds of Johnnie Taylor and Sam Cooke. He joined the hardworking and hard playing Big Joe Louis & His Blues Kings as vocalist and harp player and toured all over the UK, Europe and the World. As time went on, Little Georges voice began to win its own dedicated coterie of fans and he decided to form his own band, whilst keeping his slot with Big Joe Louis. Blueprint magazine conferred their Harp Of The Year award on him for three years running. Finally, playing in two bands simultaneously became impossible and Little George decided to strike off on his own after twelve fantastic years with Big Joe Louis. With his own backing band, The Blue Stars, Little Georges solo career began to take flight. In 2000 he recorded an album for Pussycat Records, featuring to-die-for collaborations from blues legends Lazy Lester and Jimmy Thomas, which went on to become a blues best seller on both sides of the Atlantic and one of Mojo Magazines Essential Blues CDs. Existing membership of the Little George fan club includes prestigious names like John Peel, Jools Holland, Andy Kershaw, Charlie Gillett and Paul Jones. His raw unadulterated style compares favourably with that of blues legends like Ted Taylor, J.B. Lenoir and Little Willie John. Essential blues!, as Mojo magazine put it so succinctly.
