Kirsty Martin is an experienced vocal musician, based in Brighton, England who believes that singing is your birthright - something she embodies in her extensive career as singer, choral director and songwriter. Kirsty is a qualified workshop leader - having trained in community music at Goldsmiths College, London. She is musical director for Hullabaloo Quire in Brighton and is a member of Tongue and Groove, an all woman 6 piece vocal experience. She co-teaches Writes of Passage - a songwriting and storytelling course, and is a founding director of Sea Sound Sing - the annual Brighton A Cappella Festival. She teaches within WEA Adult Education in Sussex, is a member of the Natural Voice Practitioners Network, and is a prolific vocal composer. Festivals, theatre groups, colleges, social service projects and corporations have all benefited from her enthusiastic and empowering work. She continues to teach locally, as well as travelling throughout Britain, Europe and America to share her musical vision. Kirsty has an energetic and inclusive approach to singing and vocal exploration, which inspires and brings out the best in those she works with. Her style is relaxed, affirming and fun, using a variety of warm ups, games and exercises to create a positive space for in-depth work with rhythm, harmony, improvisation and songwriting. Her inspiration comes from many forms of music - from medieval to motown, folk to funk, and doowop to hip hop! She enables everyone to discover their natural and powerful voice, so that singing will become what you thought it always could be - creative, fun and personally liberating! "In the city of the soul, go up on the roof at night, and sing - sing loud!!!"
