Kad Achouri

Biography supplied by management, June 2003:Kad Achouri was born to Algerian and Spanish parents in the small town of Mazamet, south-west France, in 1969. He enjoyed a happy childhood alongside four brothers and two sisters, attending the local school and later the Lycée in Bordeaux. His Father encouraged him to play tennis and Kad was good enough to reach the quarter-finals of the French youth championships. But Kad’s heart was elsewhere. He changed courses (to music & philosophy) and completed his studies by correspondence while living in Toulouse. He began teaching himself to play the piano and briefly attended the music conservatory in Toulouse. Then he moved to Barcelona, where he spent 5 years listening to jazz and hanging out, and then to London in 1993 where he continued to teach himself music, playing piano bars to earn a living. He began to compose in 1998 and had his first 12” single release, a latin house track called “Latina Me” in 2000. Since then he has done some remixing (including a track for Sidestepper) and more writing. “Liberté” is his debut album and will be released by Stern’s on October 14th this year.
