Heatwave with Quality Diamond & Yungun

The sound of the underground doesn’t get any more up to the second than this. For starters, there are the chaps known as Heatwave, DJs who’ve twisted the ears of many a taste-shaper (think Gilles Peterson, Mr Scruff and an endless trail of BBC 1Extra groovers) as well as securing residencies at a pile of club nights across the country, most notably at London’s so-cool-it-hurts 333 club. Compilers of the recent Reggaeton Sessions album, expect the hottest rhythms from Puerto Rico vying for attention alongside an all-embracing diet of dancehall, R&B, soca, grime and Desi beats. MC Diamond has recorded for Heatwave’s own Scandal Bag label to much applause, as well as cutting records with the likes of Sizzla, Sugar Minott and our old friends Sidestepper. Another MC, Yungun, completes the line-up, a young man who’s performed alongside De La Soul and The Beatnuts and been given airplay by radioheads Zane Lowe and Steve Lamacq.
