Fernanda Amaral is an extremely experienced and accomplished choreographer and dance teacher from Brazil. She has eighteen years experience in teaching and performing in South America, USA and Europe including Brooklyn Academy of Music, “Next Wave’ Festival in New York, The Place in London, Down to Earth in Dublin, Beat Initiative in Northern Ireland, UWIC in Wales and Såo Paulo University. She has taught Body-Awareness and Afro-Brazilian Dance Workshops in many different situations, always setting out to encourage and enthuse her students and enable them to participate in whatever way is possible, regardless of age or ability. Fernanda aims to re-connect the individual with their physical being as their ‘home’ and express this individuality through movement listening to the body and responding with sensitivity to a wide range of sounds and rhythms. Her philosophy is ’learn to laugh with your body’.
