With a passion for gypsy music, Brisbane-based band Doch, features six young and highly energetic musicians with an exuberance matched by their outstanding musical abilities. The music’s rawness, drive and lyricism connect with both the young and old and the band’s screaming solos and furious tempos get the feet moving ....quickly. And when the beat-driven grooves give way to lush musical textures and sweet melodies...brace yourselves for the crescendo of excitement to follow! The band has already generated considerable excitement in their hometown and are now receiving national attention as a result of their heavy touring schedule and regular festival appearances, such as those at the Woodford Folk Festival, National Folk Festival, The Fairbridge Festival and both the World Beat and Cabaret Festivals at the Brisbane Powerhouse. They have also appeared at the 2003 & 2004 Valley Fiestas and at the world famous Spiegeltent as part of the Brisbane Biennial Festival of Music. Doch have released two full-length albums. Their first, “Chasing Grasshoppers” was selected as a feature album on Radio National’s daily world music show The Planet. Doch’s highly anticipated second album “This Drink, This Moon” was recorded at two sell-out concerts at Brisbane Powerhouse, and features the whopping 25-piece Doch Gypsy Orchestra including celebrated Tartar singer Zulya and Bulgarian vocalist Reni Pavlova-Bojilov.
