Double-strength drum & bass dream team

Very few musical careers take in both an appearance on Top Of The Pops and a collaboration with the Brazilian Minister for Culture. We say very few but, actually, there can't be anyone else with such landmarks on their CV - only DJ Marky. Such events are indicative of how far the DJ/producer from Sao Paulo has come in the ten or so years since he and his pal Patife travelled to London to chance their arm on the UK's genre-defining drum & bass scene. And, having thrilled the UK on that first visit in 1997, Marky rapidly graduated to the top table of dance music, rubbing shoulders with the highest-ranking, top-earning DJs. The release of 2001's Brasil EP blew things even wider open, ensuring Sao Paulo rivalled London in the drum & bass stakes. Since then, Marky's hooked up the culture minister (aka iconic Brazilian musician Gilberto Gil), as well as making that Top Of The Pops appearance thanks to LK, the chartbusting single with XRS. That record featured the vocal talents of Stamina MC, the smooth-voiced London-based MC with whom Marky has toured the world over.
