Multi-instrumentalist David Lindley creates music as eclectic as eclectic gets. His electro-acoustic performance effortlessly combines American folk, blues and bluegrass traditions, together with elements drawn from African, Arabic, Asian, Celtic, Malagasy and Turkish musical sources. As a teenager in southern California, David first learned the banjo, gradually expanding his musical expression through many stringed instruments including the guitar, kora and Weissenborn Hawaiian lap steel guitar. With a career spanning five decades, David has created outstanding musical partnerships with Jackson Browne and Ry Cooder, as well as leading his own remarkable band, El Rayo-X.May 2001
