Presents… Vozes do Brasil - Voices of Brazil and a Capoeira Workshop Ciranda Brasilian Culture is made up of a group of talented musicians and advocates of Brasilian Culture who have performed at Ronnie Scotts and regularly visit their homeland Brazil to develop their work here in the UK. Members include Steve Pierce, researcher of music from the African Diaspora and musician for fifteen years has performed with artists such as Brazilian multi-instrumentalist Hermeto Pascoal at both at Ronnie Scott’s and in Brazil and guitarist, vocalist and composer Thyagi Ryan.This year Ciranda presents a diverse range of instrumental voices expressing experiences of the Brasilian life in Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, the North Eastern states and Bahia. The set will create the atmosphere leading into the popular and participatory Capoeira workshop led by Polaco, Capoerista, percussionist and leader of Union Capoeira. Take part in this stunning martial art workshop fusing dancing and fighting from Africa and Brasil with members of Union Capoeira of São José dos Velhos Carpinteiros.
