Black Grace Dance Company is an all-male troupe highly regarded for its contemporary take on Pacific Island and Maori dance tradition. Black Grace was founded in 1995 in Auckland by Neil Ieremia (whose credits as choreographer include: the Royal New Zealand Ballet, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Opera New Zealand and the Holland Dance Festival). The company has travelled around the world, exposing international audiences to its unique blend of modern and traditional dance from the Pacific. Most recently they have garnered outstanding reviews from the notoriously hard-to-please dance critics of New York.

This predominantly Pacific Island and Maori all-male contemporary dance company thrill audiences with their speed and super-athleticism and their innovative incorporation of traditional songs into their shows. Whether performing synchronized Samoan body percussion to spoken word or anything from rain dances to ant marches, Black Grace harness the forces of nature to create a one-of-a-kind, high-energy dance event.
