Ben Marwood started out life as a human being in 1981. After living and breathing (which he picked up fairly quickly) for 21 years and darting in and out of really terrible bands, he decided to go and be terrible on his own somewhere. Having gotten fairly bored of all that overdriven noise hed been playing for the previous 3 years, this new project which was eventually named Ben Marwood after a long and brutal process of elimination consisted mostly of folk songs based around him and his acoustic guitar. These eventually were recorded as full-band songs and released as a debut EP available exclusively at gigs, entitled Good Propaganda (although there was very little propaganda on it, it was just a good title). From there, the project grew so that the now full-band songs could be played in a full-band way using a Full Band. Several bassists and drummers offered their services temporarily, so Ben used them all on some kind of musical rota and named the collective his New Best Friends. On July 23rd 2004, Ben Marwood and his New Best Friends will make an appearance on the River Stage at the World Of Music And Dance festival in Reading, which just so happens to be his hometown, and will play a special full-band set. Expect a guitar, a bass, a drum kit and some musicians to play folk songs mostly about love. For more information on forthcoming gigs etc. you may also visit http://www.benmarwood.co.ukThank God for Ben Marwood, who fits snugly somewhere between Evan Dando's latest and the emo classicism of Braid and early The Promise Ring- Splendid Magazine
