To that never-ending list of young folk songstresses to emerge over the last couple of years, add the name of Bella Hardy, a devilishly talented fiddle-singer from darkest Derbyshire. Night Visiting, her debut solo album from last year, earned her two nominations at the BBC Folk Awards, as well as a torrent of praise. "Bella Hardy is more than a new-generation folk revivalist," purred fRoots' Colin Irwin. "Her potential is massive." And they don't come much more massive than the Royal Albert Hall where she played recently as part of the BBC Proms.
