An accomplished young stand-up comedian, Ava Vidal has risen quickly through comedy's ranks. The only female finalist in the BBC3 NEW COMEDY AWARDS, in the very first year of her career she enjoyed a clutch of TV appearances including the sitcom THE CROUCHES for BBC1, SACK RACE for BBC2 and MALAI MONOLOGUES for BBC3.

She appeared on MTV Base, hosting the SCREEN NATION AWARDS, the leading ceremony recognising black British TV and film talent, alongside Red Dwarf star Danny John Jules.

Ava has performed at many of the leading venues both here and abroad, from the Comedy Store in London to Berlin's Blue Monday club. She enjoyed her Edinburgh Fringe debut in 2004 with BLING BLUSH BONK, followed by last summer's show MISFIT, which went down a storm! This year she's back again with a new show, RESPONSIBLE.

Ava started as a sketch performer and writer. As part of BBC Talent's Urban Sketch Show team, she wrote and performed various showcases and sketches, including the BBC Radio 1 Roadshow. She has also written and performed in Radio 1's new late night comedy show THE MILK RUN.

She then transferred her skills from character comedy to straight stand-up, achieving success in national competitions, including the Hackney Empire New Act competition and Channel 4's SO YOU THINK YOU'RE FUNNY, in addition to her BBC 'New Comedy Award' success.

Ava took part in KINGS OF COMEDY for Channel 4 / E4, and despite her inexperience, she still made it to the final week! She was also the subject of a Ch4 documentary FROM THE TOP (Juniper Productions).

Widely acclaimed as a face of the future by the critics, Ava is certainly an act to watch!
