From Germany
Tropical Rare Grooves from West Africa and beyond
With his innate sense of old vinyl and tape detection, Samy Ben Redjeb has spent a good deal of his life, searching through dusty warehouses in countries like Benin, Burkina Faso, Zimbawe and Colombia on a mission to rescue forgotten music from oblivion. He has amassed an incredible collection of rare records and tapes, from which he compiles selections for his highly respected Analog Africa label from his home base in Frankfurt.
With its excellent compilations, well-researched booklets and truly mind-blowing music the label has built up a strong following of critics and opinion leaders around the globe. Among them: Henry Rollins, Gilles Peterson, Franz Ferdinand, Cut Chemist, Egon from Stones Throw, Straight No Chaser, the Guardian, the Wire...
The Analog Africa Soundsystem was born out of a meeting with Pedo Knopp, well known on Frankfurts? underground scene for his participation in countless projects like the legendary LAZY parties and the Nippon Connection film festival.
In 2005 Samy and Pedo started the quarterly Afro music jamboree "AFRICADELAY" with the primary objective to present the manifoldness besides the stereotypes of African music. The party soon diversified and developed to a meeting point for hedonistic cosmopolitans from all backgrounds with a boogie lust for intoxicating Afro-Grooves as well as Caribbean, Latin and Afro- American flavours from past to present.
Expect the Unexpected!
