The style of Akkura is somewhere between the typical singer-songwriter and the impartial, street sound of an acoustic band. Akkura use an almost traditional instrumentation with a fresh look at the sound mix allowing them to offer a surreal atmosphere in their concerts, always with a hint of humorous experimentation.
After the first CD "Akkura" and the second CD "Zaùn", the latest CD, "Brucerò la Vucciria col mio piano in fiamme", came out on the 11th November 2009. This latest CD, both recorded and mixed in Rio de Janeiro, has been produced by Moreno Veloso and Domenico Lancellotti, known as +2 (mais does), yet it has had Moreno and Domenico themselves as special guests, along with Arto Lindsey and Pedro Sà, Caetano Veloso's guitarist.
However, this one is not only a CD: it's also a book! Brucerò la Vucciria was born thanks to an idea by Enrico's Flaccovio, who also published it, and it contains ten tales (one per each song) about Palermo, the way it is perceived today, about its inhabitants' personality and feelings, their different ways of loving/hating Palermo, their strategies to face its transformations.
A number of young authors lent their writing talent to Akkura in order to describe Palermo within the CD + Book package: Davide Enia, Cesare Basile, Alli Traina, Andrea Gullotta, Dario Tosini and Akkura as well. "Qui non troverete un'analisi sociologica di Palermo, ma un affresco di una città che è gia meravigliosa cosi, che non attende nessun futuro. A Palermo il futuro già ci fù."
