In this year's festival programme, we pontificate about the nature of music, family and just why offspring so often want to play a part in the family business. This lot could surely tell us why. Not only did Nick and Dan Woodmansey follow their father into music, they also both took up the very tools of his trade - the drum kit. Papa wasn't a Rolling Stone but he was Woody Woodmansey, the man who provided the rhythmic propulsion for David Bowie's Spiders From Mars band back in the '70s. Spool forward 30+ years and he now steps out with his lads, each playing their own drum kit in this highly original line-up (hence the 3-D moniker). The musical tastes of all three are markedly different (Nick's a bit of a funk man while the younger Dan prefers drum & bass), but together the sound really works, the commonality of seemingly disparate musical genres coming sweetly to the fore. Also this weekend, Woody is contributing to the Billy Cobham masterclass on Saturday afternoon (3pm on the Meadow Stage).
